London Mathematical Society Education Day
In association with HoDoMS, the Education Committee of the LMS is holding one of its periodic Education Days on Tuesday May 24th 2016.
People who are interested in the teaching of mathematics in HE institutions are invited. Please pass this invitation on to colleagues who might like to attend. The previous event was well-attended by people at early and middle stages of their careers, and we hope that this will again be the case.
When: 11.00 am - 4.30 pm Tuesday May 24th
Venue: Hardy Room of London Mathematical Society, De Morgan House, 57-58 Russell Square, London. WC1B 4HS (Nearest tube: Russell Square).
11.00am - Coffee and registration
11.30am - Assessment practices and learning mathematics – Dr Jane White, University of Bath and Dr Paola Iannone, Loughborough University
12.45pm - Lunch
1.45pm - The Flipped Classroom – Dr Kevin Houston, University of Leeds and Dr Mike Robinson, Sheffield Hallam University
3.00pm - Break
3.15pm - TEF, QA and all that: can we make it work for Mathematics? – Professor Alice Rogers, KCL and Professor Peter Giblin, University of Liverpool

4.30pm - Tea and departure
Each session will include discussion, and points made will be followed up by the Education Committee where possible.
There is no charge for attending and a buffet lunch will be provided.
Please register to attend by contacting Duncan Turton (Duncan.Turton@lms.ac.uk). Places we be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please can you also indicate when you register whether you have any particular needs (diet/access etc).
